Semen is combination of sperms (5%) and fluid from seminal vesicles (65%), prostate and bulbo-urethral gland (30%). It is usually creamy white in color. Volume varies from 1.5-6.6ml. Average pH is 7.5.

First portion of ejaculate contains a small volume of fluid from vas deferens is rich in sperm. Subsequent second portion has greater volume and it is composed primarily of seminal vesicular and prostatic secretions but fewer sperms. The coagulum formed by ejaculated semen liquefies within 20-30 minutes as a result of proteolytic enzymes.
